US-Canadian Border Crossings Cultural Resource Inventory

Gray & Pape and their joint venture partner, Historical Research Associates, conducted cultural resource investigations at 52 land-based ports of entry (LPOEs) along the International Border in Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Michigan. The work was completed for Michael Baker Jr., Inc., Engineering, an environmental contractor for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District, acting on behalf of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in order to satisfy the requirements of the National Historic Preservation Act. HRA Gray & Pape personnel conducted field inventories to ascertain the presence or absence of above-ground cultural resources and the potential for buried cultural resource sites within each project’s Area of Potential Effects. Reports for each LPOE summarized methods and results of fieldwork and included recommendations for further work.
